since today is the first day of anniversary sale, i thought i’d post some stylish nordstrom representation. loved her layered stripes and pearls.
have you picked your must have items from that gorgeous book? come see me at store 2 (northgate), and i’ll make sure you find some stellar hosiery for fall (really fashion? we just got summer and you want me to think of fall?)

last night was artwalk…i headed down to my usual haunts, and roamed about. i feel like pioneer square isn’t getting the traffic it used to. downtown seemed to have more going on…
also, since i shirked my posting duties for most of the week (this isn’t my day job) i’ve decided you get the fruits of all my effort TODAY. check back throughout the day for my whole artwalk series posted in one day.
next week i’m hoping i’ll have something from sam remix. have a great weekend- xoxox k.

finally! i was happy to meet korby in front of sam last weekend (while shooting with alice wheeler) and get this stylish gent on a bike. korby also let me know about frances farmer organ karaoke, which happens after artwalk. sounds FUN!

josie bissett was so NICE! i’m not accustomed to approaching celebs for photos… when i shoot music, i take the photos i want for 3 songs, and then have to leave. but i asked her for a full style shot, and on top of graciously posing, her husband then asked if i wanted my photo taken. with her. anyone who knows me, would have seen the fear on my face, handing the camera over, and the photo needs one of those black boxes over my head… but josie looks very lovely. and thank you to her husband for taking it. sweet.
i was invited last week to attend another performance of ‘3 by dove’ by pacific northwest ballet, and also the co-ordinating backstage pass event appropriately titled ‘when doves fly’. if you don’t know about backstage pass… they’re a group of 20-40 somethings who promote interest in the ballet by selling a selection of tickets from the season and then hosting events either before or after the performance. it’s a non-intimidating way to enjoy the ballet (when you don’t know anything about the ballet) and who doesn’t like to mingle or have a cocktail when you’re already out.
this event was one of their bigger ones of the year, and was great for style watching, people watching, and of course, sneaking around backstage…
above dancers chal and lucien- she’s wearing a vest that she said he found for her (and louboutins?), and he’s got a pair of carole mcklellan leather pants. Read more
some of you probably know chris, or emerald dandy to the bloggers… today is his birthday!!
a big happy birthday from needleplusthread- i am a big fan of all things birthday- nothing like celebrating another year of you! Read more
brooklyn does nails. for butter of london. i forgot to ask if he went to NY fashion week… i loved his sweater, and loved it even more when he said he picked it up at benetton. so old school!
beth’s hat from milliner wayne wichern.
i need a little pick me up today.
i’ve been seeing little details like that sunny yellow skirt here and there. little tells that say ‘i’m thinking of spring’. i did it myself just the other day. layered up to the nines, cropped denim , mary janes, and no socks. 50 degrees and no socks. i’m so ready for spring.
update: thanks wendy for getting back to me… see wendy’s handmade jewelry in her etsy shop- eyefun
it’s hard to fall in love with celebrity style. someone else is dressing them anyway… maybe if i could see how those people dress? i’ve found it to be easier to fall in love with the style of women musicians, and recently had the opportunity to meet one. there’s something to be said for getting an up close look of what ‘on the road‘ means, and a guarantee you, it doesn’t involve a lot of closet space. kristen of vedera spared an hour of her time in seattle to talk with me about her personal style. to see our interview- needleplusthread on the seattle post intelligencer.
i also got a chance to hear vedera perform and was impressed. similar in feel to eisley (but not as… sad? gloomy?) i loved kristen’s voice live. this free download of their new single satisfy from their newly released album just might hook you.

there are some truly talented musicians who play in our streets. one of my favourites was a violinist who used to play right outside macy’s in the metro tunnel. i wanted to ask this girl for a close-up of her pretty accordion… they’re so interesting.
i’ve run into these guys a few times now… and regardless of how i feel about people accosting me on the sidewalk asking for money or time or whatever… i basically do the same thing. these guys brought a smile to my face when i finally asked for a picture and this is what i got. i love the silly spirit of it.
i like how both girls are rocking similar boots, in completely different ways. although i’m not in my ‘hair has to be short’ phase, i was drawn all night to capture the ladies with cropped do’s. so good!
some people look fantastic no matter what the weather…
few people pull off the wellie look… well. i thought sam’s use of a monotone palette, and the fun striped sock were super hip and so effortless. nothing is easier than a dress and boots, but it’s fun seeing a twist in interpretation.
i feel like mark’s shirt is on inside out, or it’s an interesting design detail. either way, i think it’s a point of interest, and i like it.
