bike style – downtown seattle

there’s something i’ve always admired about bike messengers.  i’m not sure how to put it into words, but i was so flummoxed asking this guy for his pic, i didn’t even ask for his name.  or if i did, i have no recollection.  it was like talking with one of the cool kids… soooo junior high.  but in the city, bike messengers are my cool kids.  it’s a form of reverence.  not only do they ride bikes in hazardous traffic situations… they look cool, have tattoos and drink a lot of coffee.  and that guy’s shirt says ‘hella’.  i *heart* bike messenger style… (sigh…)

Marc Jacobs and Paul Helbers share in your admiration. If you haven't checked it out already, the Louis Vuitton Spring 10 show is inspired by the bike messenger.

hey there lauren… thanks for the note. i'm going to hunt down the designers you referenced… i found the louis that has some messenger-ish inspirations, but don't see that others… got any links ? thanks !

It's one designer actually. Paul Helbers directs menswear design for Louis Vuitton, which is creatively directed by Marc Jacobs. He's kind of the "man behind the man". The best place to see the full collection would be at Men.Style (http://men.style.com/fashion/collections/S2010MEN/review/LVMEN). Also, check out the Bottega Veneta Spr 10 show (http://men.style.com/fashion/collections/S2010MEN/review/BVMEN), which, in my opinion, is another stand out. Enjoy!
