from the runway – dolce + gabbana – ndp – seattle

by far my favourite, i love the sedate mixed print/pattern. pretty, ladylike bow shoes, oversize rose print dress and the amazing red velvet dress were the highlights for me of d+g. for all of the photos, in order, be sure to click Read more

from the runway – chanel – ndp – seattle

i’ll be posting the runway shots through the week, first up- chanel

since going through the photos, i’ve realized how much of the show i missed by shooting it. i’m not watching clothes, i’m watching footsteps, arm movement, focus and camera settings. i liked several of the chanel pieces, and by far, covet these spat-like boots most.  i was told the fur was faux, or as chanel is calling it- ‘fantasy’.  for all the chanel runway shots in order, click Read more

nordstrom designer preview – making a dress – seattle

i’m never sure if it’s the designer or the style critic in me, maybe a combination of the two, but inevitably, i never find what i’m looking for to wear to events. this time around, i shopped all sorts of places- online, in-store, expensive, inexpensive, close-out, just-in… and still, didn’t see anything i’d consider.

it doesn’t help that i can see in my head exactly what i want. i’ve been consuming mad men, and joanie’s style has been calling. i have several vintage dresses that fit like a glove- my shape is now being defined as mid-century.  and so, of course, last minute, i decide to make something. inspiration: chanel, mad men.  timeline: 3 days.  here’s what i came up with.  to see all photos, click Read more

on a boat – seattle summer – elliott bay

i’ve had the luck of living in proximity to sailing folk… the last few thursdays, i’ve had invites to head out to the thursday night downtown sailing series. 2 thursdays ago, i brought my camera, and captured our beautiful night out on the water. thanks to neighbor josh for the invite, and the cornfields for having us. to see all the photos… click Read more

seattle tradition – nordstrom designer preview

i’ve said it before, and it bears repeating…the nordstrom can put on a show. a sea of well dressed, the most spectacular shoes you’ve seen- ever, a cocktail i have to replicate, a salted caramel bite of heaven… and to top it off, 600 photos of fall runway from the biggest names in fashion. uhm, yes please. and it all went down somewhere in the nether regions of magnolia?

i could gush and gush… but alas, my toes are tired, my eyes are tired, and i totally just realized i’m shooting capitol hill block party tomorrow night.  er…zzzzzzzz

i promise you image after image to delight (did i mention people were wearing amazing shoes?) and plan to have nordstrom fall runway, and some band or another (is it sad i haven’t checked out the lineup?) up before sunday rolls round.  happy friday!  xoxox- n+t

summer holiday – 4th of july – seattle

nothing says american independence like kids, dogs, old cars and darth vader. am i wrong? we celebrated our fourth in edmonds this year, brunch with friends, then off to stake out a spot for the edmond’s parade. then back in to the city for a dinner bbq. since i don’t live in a house that overlooks lake union (or know anyone who does) i tend to watch my fireworks on tv or listen to them popping out in the street as i fall asleep. what can i say, i lead a glamourous existence. i can’t complain.  hope you had a great 4th, to see some of my photos from the parade click Read more

my summer vacation – sunny florida – the photos

if you don’t like ornithology, skip my photos.  i think my nickname this trip was marlin perkins. florida was SUNNY, hot and relaxing.  it’s pretty nice when your biggest concern is what you’re going to eat next.  gator, grouper and triple tail, i sampled what i could.  thanks to the fam for having us, we had a blast!  for all the photos click Read more

eat – jonboy caramels – seattle

yum, yum and YUM!  have you had these yet?  my friend tara (of hazel salon fame) gave me one of these little delicious nuggets from jonboy caramels, and i knew i was a goner.  i’m not a sweets craver… i go for chips or salt when i get a yen, but THESE ARE DELICIOUS!  and don’t even get me started on the molasses ginger.  word on the street is that they’re trying to perfect a licorice flavor… if jon was a boy in school, i’d pass him a note and tell him i liked him.  and his caramels. but mostly just his caramels.

places to buy in seattle- blackbird candy shoppe, the field house, eat local- queen anne, ballard and georgetown farmer’s market.  for other locations visit their site or buy online!

*no money or caramels were traded for this post.  THEY’RE THAT GOOD! (and i’ll take the free caramels if you insist)

do this now – supreme legacy – emp

last night was the opening gala for the supreme legacy exhibit at emp. i’m often surprised there aren’t more shows at emp. it’s relatively easy to get to, the sound is good… there’s parking. ANYWAY… supreme legacy is one of those exhibits to love… who doesn’t like poking around what people have kept in their closets for a few decades. it almost gives you an excuse to never get rid of that sequin fringey thing you wore when you were 22. your daughter is going to love that thing. if you let her out of the house in it. she’s going to secretly nab it and sneak out of the house in it and you won’t even know. better get rid of it. ANYWAY… yikes. someone could use some sleep… the exhibit and party were a great kick off to a cool exhibit. i think emp is on a roll. taking aim was amazing (had a dream that elvis costello snap was hanging in my house) supreme legacy is carrying the torch, and i hear there’s going to be a battlestar gallactica exhibit that might blow your socks off. if you’re in to that sort of thing. considering i snapped pics of E.T., a teenage mutant ninja turtle, and could identify the costume worn by sean young in blade runner… i have a feeling i might have to check it out.  i do have photos of the dresses after the jump, if you want to be surprised, don’t go any further- but for all of the photos click Read more

pretty as a picture – katherine – luly yang show – seattle

all the women at the show who work with luly were wearing her dresses and shoes.  they all looked stunning, and were perhaps the best showcase of a diverse range of ladies rocking some seriously lovely frocks (and AMAZING shoes!)  i had hope to get a picture of them all together, but knew they were busy with the event… the best detail- all of these dresses seemed to be hand painted in some way, each was different, it was subtle, and such a pretty detail.

mocha – luly yang show – seattle
