needle buzz – value village + contest + fall shopping

From needle+thread

this blog is about pictures of you. that being said, you may remember the contest was going to involve a friend. there were some timing issues, and so, in the vein of keeping the contest timely, i’ve been dashing about trying to get it together myself. i shop at value village pretty frequently (with said friend, in fact)… and have picked up bits here and there for fall. since today was as un-fall like as it gets (88 when this was taken) i’d had a lovely argyle, full length skirt planned, that no amount of free stuff could entice me to put on. so i bolted in and found this denim number. then the focus wasn’t working (cause the subject wasn’t in front of the camera) and i had to bug some passer-by (big thanks to tyler) to take this picture. sorry it’s me, i won’t make a habit of it…

but…now the contest can begin ! just a reminder- these are how to qualify for one of the TWO $50 value village gift certs (one will be chose by a drawing, one will be chosen based on creativity)-

1. post a comment
2. suggest a title for the above picture
3. best critique of how this outfit completely relates to a. fall b. shape c. seattle d. color or e. reverse osmosis
4. best plea for why you deserve the gift cert.
5. guess at which V.V. this was taken
6. proof of shameless promotion of needle+thread (pictures, glitter posters, links, free converse ad space)

and just to show you how valuable those gift cards are… my outfit, the entire thing (boots-$10, skirt $5, button down $4, jacket/hoodie $5, tank $4, belt $5) was $38.

I love Value Village, its one of my favorite places to shop. As for the outfit, I don't know if it's just me, but I have an obscene amount of blue in my wardrobe. Blue doesn't scream "autumn!" to me, but it does hint at Seattle. Maybe it's the water.

Definitely works for fall…the layered look with the peak-a-boo color and skin. I like how the belt ties it all together and dresses it up a bit.

This outfit is adorable! You did a wonderful job!

I love how you used the belt to create a more fitted silhouette, considering all the layers under the jacket!

You are an excellent model! My guess is you are outside of the crown hill value village, otherwise known as Ballard.(Yes I go there too much I suppose if I am right)
Your outfit strikes a great balance.Seattle casual is represented in the denim, while the cinched waist of the outerwear feels right on trend for fall.
Are the boots grey? That, and the layers used on top are also right on track for fall colors and trends.
I have a thrift shopping addiction,so my plea to you is to feed my beast.

"Go ahead Seattle, bring on the fall weather – You aint gonna hold me down, oh no!"

I have been going to VV more and more these days, they have a great selection. Ok I want to go right now!

  12. Zoe says:

I love those boots! I honestly would prefer the outfit w/o the pink shirt, but anyone who knows me knows I'm not into pink. >_<

  13. mle says:

this is a textbook case of "hmmm. i walked out of the house feeling so fabulous in my season-spanning, weather-change resisting, utterly chic ensemble that i look amazing in, that i believe i forgot my keys. do i need my keys? i will press on."

*saunters away turning heads and humming a tune while thinking about a margarita with friends in the afternoon and then a lovely dinner.*

Hmmm, so I thought I posted here the other day, but apparently something didn't work properly. I'm happy to say that your outfit does tho. Well done! We need to make a trip north 🙂
