RAGAMOFFYN’S

orangey-gold Prada silk shift dress and Loro Piana cashmere shawl- so pretty together!

SWAY & CAKE

the Luv Aj body harness was really unique.

I’m smitten with the color of these high-waisted trousers. So perfect for Fall.

CHEZ CHIC
a glittering copper sequined long sleeve mini = sexy, not skanky.

LA REE
one of the big trends this season is colorful pants. these red Rag & Bone skinny stretch cords are so perfect, especially paired with Joseph wedge booties, and an Alexander Wang sleeveless turtleneck.

MERCER
i love this no-nonense look… something you can throw on and run out the door on a crisp Autumn day (Vince hooded drape coat, Autumn cashmere wrap).

There was an excess of sparkles and skin at this year’s Fashion First runway show and auction. Freshly botoxed ladies huffed and puffed at the wait in the drink line; older men escorted much younger women to VIP seats; and one unfortunate gal took quite a spill, thanks to her five inch heels (and maybe the vodka-based cocktails being served). But brushing the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” scenes aside, it was wonderful seeing local independent retailers showcase their wares. Most of the looks got me excited for the autumn season ahead– I can’t wait to break out my plaid scarves, wool tights, and and comfy sweaters.

fall trends – night on the town – vogue front row fashion

who doesn’t love to see all the pretty dresses? with holidays just around the corner, it’s fun to think of a party frock. i actually just bought my christmas dress (dressy drink night!) at the rack. best advice i was ever given… if you find an event dress, it fits, and it’s a deal… buy it. you’ll find something to wear it to.

this wraps up the vogue front row fashion show, and tonight i’m headed to fashion first.  hopefully i’ll see some style to capture (a little behind on that) and of course i’ll have some runway shots.

fall trends – sweater girls – vogue front row fashion

not that i’m going to be baring midriff anytime soon, but i thought most of the looks in this portion were great how-to’s on sweaters. for all the shots, click Read more

fall trends – urban luxe – vogue front row fashion

urban luxe translates to ‘military olive drab with sparkle and a pop of red’. there were several pieces in this set that i’d sell a kidney for. those tall chanel (looking?) boots?  yes. that bright red scarf. the cape like luxe looking thing that billowed and looked sumptuous… okay. apparently my style this fall is urban luxe. for all the shots from this set click Read more

fall trends – american sportswear – vogue front row fashion

i wasn’t as into this as i thought i’d be.  i tend to like classic.  i don’t know… maybe it was the coming and going models, and having to swap camera settings every two seconds.. there were a few items i liked, but you’ll have to excuse the blurred photos.  this section of the show was… challenging.  i did the best i could.  for *most* of the photos from american sportswear click Read more

from the runway – lanvin – ndp – seattle

and last, but not least, lanvin. solid sheath type dresses… with some sheen at the end.  all in all, a very sedate show.  but who doesn’t love to see all the pretty clothes?  thank you to nordstrom for having me… next big fashion shows are bellevue fashion week, and fashion first.

from the runway – gucci – ndp – seattle

the largest collection shown in the show, i thought gucci offered the best menswear. sorry about the miss (about half-way down), late arrivals blocked my shot.  for all of the gucci images, be sure to click Read more

from the runway – oscar de la renta – ndp – seattle

so pretty, so feminine, and i am in LOVE with that statement necklace (oscar also had the best gowns, by far, of the show)! odlr knows the shape of women… if you’ve ever tried on any of his clothes, they fit amazingly… for all the oscar de la renta photos, click Read more

from the runway – donna karan – ndp – seattle

some pretty color, but overall, not my favourite. for all the donna karan photos, click Read more

from the runway – burberry prorsum – ndp – seattle

another small collection. i thought these boots were pretty sexy. i’m looking for a brown thigh high pair for fall. for all the burberry photos, click Read more

from the runway – michael kors – ndp – seattle

i try to keep the posting positive on n+t… that being said, i’m not all that big a fan of michael kors. to each, his own.  for all the michael kors shots, click  Read more

from the runway – dries van noten – ndp – seattle

dries is another great mixer of pattern and texture. you can see examples of it in their full paris show.  i was interested to see, considering fall10 trends, that none of that o.d. green color made it to the nordstrom runway, and also any of their retro dress shapes.  i’m assuming some of it will be on the nordstrom sales floor? for all the dries images, be sure to click Read more

from the runway – stella mccartney – ndp – seattle

stella’s one shoulder dresses were so pretty… i’m liking that style more and more. also, some great pops of color. for all of the stella shots, in order, be sure to click Read more

from the runway – versace – ndp – seattle

versace had some of the color in the show… so nice breaking up all the black and grey. what were your favourites? for the rest of the versace photos, in order, click Read more

from the runway – marc jacobs – ndp – seattle

could be my love affair with hosiery, but i am LOVING all the anklets with heels on the runways for fall. also on my fall must-have list? long leather gloves to go with my vintage 3/4 sleeve coats. so lush! for all the marc jacobs shots in order, click Read more

from the runway – celine – ndp – seattle

celine was a little sedate for me. but i did like the pop of this red bag.  their recent spring collection was very pretty.  they seemed to have carried some of the details into fall.  for all the celine photos in order of appearance, click Read more

from the runway – dolce + gabbana – ndp – seattle

by far my favourite, i love the sedate mixed print/pattern. pretty, ladylike bow shoes, oversize rose print dress and the amazing red velvet dress were the highlights for me of d+g. for all of the photos, in order, be sure to click Read more

nordstrom designer preview – making a dress – seattle

i’m never sure if it’s the designer or the style critic in me, maybe a combination of the two, but inevitably, i never find what i’m looking for to wear to events. this time around, i shopped all sorts of places- online, in-store, expensive, inexpensive, close-out, just-in… and still, didn’t see anything i’d consider.

it doesn’t help that i can see in my head exactly what i want. i’ve been consuming mad men, and joanie’s style has been calling. i have several vintage dresses that fit like a glove- my shape is now being defined as mid-century.  and so, of course, last minute, i decide to make something. inspiration: chanel, mad men.  timeline: 3 days.  here’s what i came up with.  to see all photos, click Read more

seattle tradition – nordstrom designer preview

i’ve said it before, and it bears repeating…the nordstrom can put on a show. a sea of well dressed, the most spectacular shoes you’ve seen- ever, a cocktail i have to replicate, a salted caramel bite of heaven… and to top it off, 600 photos of fall runway from the biggest names in fashion. uhm, yes please. and it all went down somewhere in the nether regions of magnolia?

i could gush and gush… but alas, my toes are tired, my eyes are tired, and i totally just realized i’m shooting capitol hill block party tomorrow night.  er…zzzzzzzz

i promise you image after image to delight (did i mention people were wearing amazing shoes?) and plan to have nordstrom fall runway, and some band or another (is it sad i haven’t checked out the lineup?) up before sunday rolls round.  happy friday!  xoxox- n+t

summer holiday – 4th of july – seattle

nothing says american independence like kids, dogs, old cars and darth vader. am i wrong? we celebrated our fourth in edmonds this year, brunch with friends, then off to stake out a spot for the edmond’s parade. then back in to the city for a dinner bbq. since i don’t live in a house that overlooks lake union (or know anyone who does) i tend to watch my fireworks on tv or listen to them popping out in the street as i fall asleep. what can i say, i lead a glamourous existence. i can’t complain.  hope you had a great 4th, to see some of my photos from the parade click Read more
