i wish i could remember this woman’s name.  john did a great job of writing people’s names down, but when i stopped this lady, he was on the other side of the street (we were going to cross, but then i saw her)… the one thing i saw in a lot of handbags… including the lady i stopped after this woman, who wouldn’t let me get a photo, was how seattle ladies use a bag to incorporate some really fun color.  i think especially for work there was a lot of monochromatic or muted shades and then these really great playful pops on bags.  even on the secondary pack bag (see: courtney and molly) it was a vehicle for getting more color in… orange, lime green, magenta.  i have a yellow bag this very color (i might have forgotten that) and i should get it out.  it will go great with my new navy spring coat… now if only spring would stick around so i can finally put the down away… we can wish.  happy friday !

this is mariana.  mariana had a very cool looking bag, again, i wish i knew who it was by… but… we can appreciate it without that knowledge.  mariana isn’t a seattlite, and was one of several people i stopped who wasn’t sure of what we were asking her.  once she figured it out… she was giddy.  her and her companions were visiting from mexico (isn’t that funny… people from mexico coming HERE ?) and mariana was another one who employed the monochromatic brown on brown scheme.  you can see her full length next week.

this is emily.  i’m going to apologize to emily right now for possibly frightening her or not communicating well what it was that we wanted.  1st and marion early in the morning was a little hectic (who knew ?) what with ferry traffic and a bus stop… we couldn’t keep up with all the people we wanted pictures of, and most of them ran away from us… having said that… emily had very simple, lovely style (that you can see full-length next week !)… great use of color and this very cool and unique bag.  i thought it was tapestry, but having looked it over in the photo… it’s beaded.  which makes me think of beaded purses that i have, that for many years, i was saving.  finally… loving one of them so much, i used to take it out and just look at it… i started using them.  sometimes daily.  and if they die an untimely, unbeaded death… so it goes.  the pleasure from using an item that’s special or delicate… of carrying around something that’s not going to last years… it was an indulgence, but not everything is meant to be kept forever.

this is roxanne.  we met her near marion and 1st where we took away her coffee and she posed for some pictures.  this is her handbag, and although i personally tend to shy away from white in an accessory, i think this goes perfectly with the rest of her look.  she has great casual style… check back next week for her full length.

this is helen.  john and i practically accosted poor helen to get a picture.  we loved her outfit, her hair, her style, and i’m sorry that my camera skills are still playing catch-up.  helen’s full length is a little blurry (ok, this one is too… it got to me that helen was in a hurry !).  perhaps i’ll come to terms with my lacking photo skills, and you can see helen’s full length when we continue our work wear series next week.  as it is… it’s friday, and you get a glimpse of lovely helen and helen’s covetable handbag.  wearing all black with that red bag… we like it.

when i was 9 and in mrs. pace-mcginnis’ 4th grade class… we had what was called… fun day friday.  if you did all the classwork, and turned in all the homework… you got to participate.  to a 9 year old, it was heaven.  you got to eat… in the classroom !  play games, and just generally goof off.  while the poor suckers who didn’t get a star in EVERY SINGLE BOX had to do WORK.  heaven.  somehow… i’ve managed to retain my love of fridays.  especially the goof off part (maybe i always goof off).  anyway, i wanted to make friday posts extra friday-ey and save them for accessories.  maybe this is exciting to no one but me… it’s possible.  i have a whole drawer of summer scarves (the winter one have been rotated !  finally !).  a whole drawer of evening handbags.  a special piece of furniture for jewelry… it’s possible i’m accessory-centric, but i try to never over do it when i leave the house.  and one item dear to my heart is the handbag.  i won’t tell you how many i have… you can’t admit to things your husband would be incredulous over on the internet… i want to have fun tonight.  it’s friday !

this is sheena.  sheena looked so professional for a woman who i took to be near 20.  i didn’t ask her age.  but i did appreciate her monochromatic brown, tan, sable look, and then we saw it about 4 other times around the city.  brown is spring’s black we figured… and no one wants winter to be over like a seattlite (ok, maybe minnisotans have it worse).  i swear (as i get more organized and learn some groan-worthy lessons) that i’ll ask who made what, or what you’re wearing… because in this series… i have no idea who made any of these handbags.  speak up if you do.
