current obsessions – fall legwear – photo round-up

since most of our summer has been a prolonged build up to fall (see: coolish) i can’t help but look for ways to stay stylish but warm.  and since hosiery is my J-O-B (legwear designer for nordstrom) i get to study legwear for work.  i’ve been seeing all these adorable iterations of the OTK and bold, statement tights.  a look i can’t help but mimic as we make our way into the dreary months…

allie, vicoria and i gathered some inspiration for you- let us know what you think! (featured above, a stylish lady from paris- eleonor bridge- since my french isn’t what it used to be, i can’t tell you much more than that- but don’t you love the tutu and socks!?!)

my picks- something bold- love the mod style. although i couldn’t find the original from garance dore, this was linked on this is love forever

end of summer, layered sheers- very cool

cute hat – jessica? – pike place market

i’m sad you can only faintly see the floral pattern on her tights. have you been wearing tights this june? yeah, me too.

use of color – alicia betty – pioneer square

alicia betty was a sweetie to let us (and all the other people) accost her on the street. when we stopped to ask her for a photo, i think some people thought she was famous (and also wanted photos), to which she responded- don’t you know who i am? i’m alicia betty!

details – shelley – pioneer square

cutest. dress. ever. and i loved the detail on her boots…

layers – ande – capitol hill

today’s a pictorial treat. since i went to SAMRemix over the weekend, and have a few (hundred) pictures to post, i thought i’d get to these first and start the SAM series tomorrow. these last few are some of my favourites from that day- hope you enjoy!

reasons to shop the market – kim strang – pike place market

From needle+thread

i’m a hoarder. i’ll admit it. ok, it’s not that bad. but as it relates to female unmentionables, i DO have a problem. slips, pretty underthings, and a recent obsession… stockings. last year i did some serious damage at sock dreams. i have the warm legs to prove it. enter kim strang.

kim and i have one of those odd seattle stories of meeting each other, and then realizing we’ve lived in the same places, and know some of the same people. i call it seattle serendipity, if you live here, you’ve probably experienced it. ‘i lived in bellingham. i lived on forest. my dog used to run around and chew up frisbees…’ ‘oh you’re THAT girl. small world’.

anyway, a friend introduced us (maybe RE-introduced us), and i decided to go check out kim’s wares down in the market… Read more

inherent cool – kei – outdoor retailer – slc

From needle+thread

i saw kei many times. after i’d asked for the picture, and kept running into him, i felt like a nerd. at the end of one day, we ran into each other again, and he gave me the coolest catalog I’VE EVER SEEN. it could be my fascination/obsession with japan, but kei is one cool dude. my picture does not do his style justice. that cardi was amazing… and i loved the short pant with pop sock.

birds of a feather – karla + maria – downtown seattle

From needle+thread

i like all the knit detail going on here… i’ve been wearing a ton over-size organic shaped sweaters, and feel like they go with anything. also, i don’t know if that’s a scarf… the blue- but i’m digging on the unexpected shape and color.

we play favourites – the magpie – blogmeetblog – seattle

From needle+thread

each time i’ve run into denise, i’ve admired/envied/coveted some piece of what she’s wearing.  and if you haven’t read either of her blogs.  you should.  right now.  go.

an autumn day at discovery – sheena – discovery park – magnolia

sometimes when people tell you that you have to get a permit, you should just ignore them.  it goes against my sensibilities to ignore little old ladies, but that being said, sometimes they’re just on an age power trip.  and it definitely irks me to listen someone in an OFFICE tell me what i can do OUTDOORS, but i did grit my teeth, and fill out the paperwork.  and after all that… bureaucracy… what do i have to show for it?  nothing. well, the filled out paperwork, and some emails, but certainly no permit to take pictures.  so i just decided to take my camera AND my friend and go take all the pictures i wanted.  and we couldn’t have had a better day.  a beautiful fall day in discovery park.  we ran (ok, sheena did most of the running), we laughed like maniacs… and we saw about 10 other people taking pictures.  so if any of you want to turn me in, i have evidence that i wasn’t the only one.  there are so many beautiful places in seattle, who could resist… enjoy.

sheena mixes up her hunter boots and print romper.  she’s a natural.

From needle+thread

everyone should look this pretty in a field-  romper mixed with navy blazer and pearls.

From needle+thread

this was where the laughing happened.

running from the paparazzi.

From needle+thread

more laughing…

From needle+thread

can you believe she was going to take this blazer back?  good thing she didn’t.

the sun comes out- mixed with long, red cardi, necklaces and belt.

there’s one more picture over at our seattle P-I blog… check it out!

ladylike chic – SAM Remix – seattle

From needle+thread

love the gold handbag (vintage?) and big chunky earring.  also love the combo of the high wasted longer skirt with the lace legging.  she put her own twist on the look and it looks just right.

feminine silhouette – SAM Remix – seattle

i was having some metering issues.  sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.  this girl was so cute, i wish my pictures did her justice.  i’m not using flash… so you’ll just have to take my word.  that dress fit was amazing, i loved her stockings with shoes, and her scarf… i’m so into these continuous scarves.  she looked great.

leather envy – erin? – SAM Remix – seattle

From needle+thread

i’m digging all these cool leather jackets i keep seeing.  none of them fit me right, and whenever i ask someone where they got one i admire… it’s always italy.  time for a trip!

country glamour – sam – mario’s – downtown seattle

From needle+thread

few people pull off the wellie look… well.  i thought sam’s use of a monotone palette, and the fun striped sock were super hip and so effortless.  nothing is easier than a dress and boots, but it’s fun seeing a twist in interpretation.

merrill – creative director – downtown seattle

From needle+thread

i saw merrill while i was walking around before the snow patrol concert.  i was drawn to about 5 different things she was wearing, and as we parted i wished i’d asked her about half of them.  the necklace… the tights, the shoes… i did recognize her orla kiely shopper.  orla’s retro palette makes me happy- it pairs with vintage nicely.

musical style – performer – fremont

From needle+thread

this girl plays at the fremont market…

color – reghann – urban blowout – bellevue fashion week

From needle+thread

horrible-ish spot to take photos, and if i tone down the yellow, you don’t see the color in her hair/outift… love those grey oxfords.

vogue – front row fashion – 80′s Redux

From needle+thread

From needle+thread

there wasn’t a lot about 80′s redux i loved. colour. i did like all the colour. and you’ll note those shoes were captured by n+t on the lovely andrea… ages ago. the rest of the 80′s redux album

vogue – front row fashion – lady sophisticate

From needle+thread

From needle+thread

as a guy, i don’t know how i’d feel about walking down the runway in the ‘lady sophisticate’ grouping, but i suppose as a sophisticated lady, i’d want my guy to be on par with my ‘sophistication’. i think by far (gowns excluded) these were my favourite looks, and that feather skirt is just for sheena. see all the lady sophisticate looks in the album.
