time off – back at it – the 411

hey there… you might have noticed i’ve taken a little time off.  after posting near daily for a year and a half… i decided it might be deserved.  i’m also in the midst of being pregnant.  which is how it seemed to happen for me.  you’re not pregnant, and then suddenly you are, and it’s such a strange, unexpected place.  your skin is freaking out, your organs are freaking out… your internal clock gets all out of whack, and you start realizing… these jeans you’ve worn for the last few years… are no longer your friend.

i think of all the photos i’ve taken of beautiful pregnant ladies… and i have absolutely no idea how they did it.  although it doesn’t seem to be a down side that i get to do some clothing shopping… i’m at a loss for what my look is.  will be.  i’m sure it’ll come to me.

and so… the recent time off.  i promise i’m not quitting.  or leaving.  photographically, i still have more i want to say about the style in our city.  it just probably won’t be as prolific.  i still see people daily, but i’m being a little more choosey.  i think there a few new shooters out there who are doing a great job (have you seen the PI has a street style section?), and it leaves me with the idea to edit, cull and make it a little more meaningful what i do post.  as always, i hope you enjoy what i find, and i look forward to bringing you pretty pictures of our city and the people who live here.

sunny mom to be style – carly – downtown seattle

mom’s day – flashback – to my mom

happy mom’s day to all the moms out there. and of course to my own mom (and mother-in-law!!) as well. to the ladies who band-aided knees after treacherous roller skating accidents (could have used some of that action last week), put up with what i know now to be the most horrific period of my life (and most likely my mom’s as well) the teenage drama, and still take the weekly (or daily) updates, rants and queries from their confused, addled or giddy off-spring… thanks for being our moms. we love you!  above, one of my favourite photos of me and my mom.  she looks happy to be holding that little alien…

also… my mom’s birthday is tomorrow… wishing her a fabulous birthday and many more to come…!!

new addition – jesslyn – downtown seattle

From needle+thread

it’s odd to me to think that i know of 19 people who have had, or will have (in the next few months) a baby. that seems like a bit of a boom to me. i love seeing someone who doesn’t cater to the dressing challenge existing on her front mid-section. i recently attended a baby shower (the mom-to-be had her baby like 2 days later) and she looked more put together than anyone in the room, and quite frankly, adorable (somewhat uncomfortable?). anyway… to cute pregnant ladies! (another cute mom i spotted a while ago)

rocker mom style – bumbershoot

From needle+thread
i try not to take photos from the back…and if i do, i tend to go find people. i was a little on sensory overload, and honestly, forgot. but…i loved her fun style, and if that IS her child, he’s pretty hip too.

mom style – samilia + julian – pike place market

From needle+thread

loved the mix of grey and purple (that bag!). wish i would have gotten dad too… such a beautiful family, here’s mom and son… someone said julian was shy of cameras, but as soon as i went to snap a pic, he jumped in with mom… what a cutie !

matching set – charlie + donna marie – fremont solstice

i tagged his shoes as chucks, then realized they’re jack purcell’s.  am i agro for knowing that ?  shouldn’t there be more useful things my brain retains ?  like US geography perhaps… just don’t ask me to pick out virginia.  but do ask me about the varying styles of converse.

mom style – ??? – fremont

alright, another loss of names due to an erased message, i remember that the daughter farthest right is sophia… they all had beautiful names, and look how great they all look !  love the use of color and individuality.  great mom/kid style !

mom style – ??? – fremont

i apologize to this woman… my recording of her name got erased.  i loved her beautiful bag, the dress and the pop of bright orange in the shoes…
