hey there… you might have noticed i’ve taken a little time off.  after posting near daily for a year and a half… i decided it might be deserved.  i’m also in the midst of being pregnant.  which is how it seemed to happen for me.  you’re not pregnant, and then suddenly you are, and it’s such a strange, unexpected place.  your skin is freaking out, your organs are freaking out… your internal clock gets all out of whack, and you start realizing… these jeans you’ve worn for the last few years… are no longer your friend.

i think of all the photos i’ve taken of beautiful pregnant ladies… and i have absolutely no idea how they did it.  although it doesn’t seem to be a down side that i get to do some clothing shopping… i’m at a loss for what my look is.  will be.  i’m sure it’ll come to me.

and so… the recent time off.  i promise i’m not quitting.  or leaving.  photographically, i still have more i want to say about the style in our city.  it just probably won’t be as prolific.  i still see people daily, but i’m being a little more choosey.  i think there a few new shooters out there who are doing a great job (have you seen the PI has a street style section?), and it leaves me with the idea to edit, cull and make it a little more meaningful what i do post.  as always, i hope you enjoy what i find, and i look forward to bringing you pretty pictures of our city and the people who live here.

i can’t even remember when i did this interview.  my life seems like somewhat of a blur at the moment… but i did enjoy talking with toby, and having listened to his little snippet (from me probably talking his ear off) it’s so CUTE!  it’s so SUCCINT. that’s me… 3rd one down! have a listen!

so this first picture come from a magazine in singapore- chic magazine.  apparently they liked the military boot trend, and asked to use the photos in their trend report form around the world.  cool!  love that needle+thread has reached such a global audience!

it’s affirming when someone appreciates your photo… even if most of the appreciation centers around the subjects. (understandable, they are gorgeous) most of what i capture centers on details, and my own design tendencies… but sometimes it’s just nice to see people (sartorially) represent your city well.  cameron agreed.

it’s already been mentioned, but i do like to document these happenings… laura cassidy had me come take photos at the FACE event benefiting sunflower children. if you want to see the gallery and write-up… click here.  i forgot how delish that via tribunali pizza was… YUM.

i’ve been taking care of some housekeeping (literally) and came across the november/december ’09 issue of 425 magazine. imagine my surprise when i spotted myself snapping pics pre-neiman marcus gala! fun! what an amazing party that was…

i remember the first person who handed me a moo card. it was at ballard artwalk about 3 years ago… and when i turned over this wee rectangle, there on the back, was his art. i loved it. i kept it. i still have it. let’s not digress into my hoarding… moo cards. since then, countless people have handed over these little physical representations of themselves, and i have to say, they give new meaning to the somewhat staid idea of ‘business card’. i’ve never personally liked having business cards, but when these showed up, with all (ok, not quite all) my favourite pictures on the back… i kind of squealed. want one?

needle+thread is getting it’s very own website! it’ll be the same great pictures and seattle style, the same grammar challenged/capitalization free writing… i just decided to buy the domain and move it over. so those of you with bookmarks/links/favourites/rss feeds… the new address is needleplusthread.com. you can even add it now, for the time being, it brings you here. but pretty soon…

i saw that someone grabbed this picture of jessie and posted on chictopia. i’d never heard of chictopia till yesterday. we had a small get together of bloggers (a test run) and were discussing different websites… i’m checking it out…
