meet the blogger – allie – n+t contributor

past fashion choice most cringe-worthy?
I used to wear Calvin Klein overalls in high school. From Costco. Why? Why?! Although now overalls are apparently coming back. Yeesh.

clothing item you can’t wait to purchase?
A new pair of brown leather boots for Fall!

what’s your take on seattle style?
It can thoroughly be improved upon. A little less fleece, please. We’re a major metropolitan city! Let’s start dressing that way! Leave the NorthFace for recreational activities. Although I respect that our city doesn’t take itself too seriously, style-wise. Fashion is supposed to be fun, not uptight.

white belts, yes or no?
Oh Lord, it really depends on the context, but usually it’s a big no.

name a song and cocktail that were made for each other-
French 75 and “Le Foule” by Edith Piaf.

shop girl – jenny – {far4} – downtown seattle

if you’ve been to {far4} you know the treasures it holds. i’ve run in to jenny (and her mom!) all over seattle, and have enjoyed stopping by her shop on artwalk.  she gave me details for upcoming artwalk {far4} featured artists, and i’ll be stopping by next month in hopes of seeing her ‘family portrait’.  for more photos of jenny click Read more

urban casual – josie – bellevue

josie bissett was so NICE! i’m not accustomed to approaching celebs for photos… when i shoot music, i take the photos i want for 3 songs, and then have to leave. but i asked her for a full style shot, and on top of graciously posing, her husband then asked if i wanted my photo taken. with her. anyone who knows me, would have seen the fear on my face, handing the camera over, and the photo needs one of those black boxes over my head… but josie looks very lovely. and thank you to her husband for taking it. sweet.

layers – ande – capitol hill

From needle+thread

today’s a pictorial treat. since i went to SAMRemix over the weekend, and have a few (hundred) pictures to post, i thought i’d get to these first and start the SAM series tomorrow. these last few are some of my favourites from that day- hope you enjoy!

mix pattern + color – deena – capitol hill

From needle+thread

i loved this really graphic coat paired with the scarf, and her boots and tights were the exact same shade- kind of a dark olive green.

yoga cowgirl – jenny – capitol hill

From needle+thread

i loved that she was on her way to yoga, and was wearing cowboy boots…

spring springs – fremont sunday market

From needle+thread

this lovely lady had her coat, and her hat… but the pretty lavender, light scarf and sunglasses? direct indicators that spring is coming…

birds of a feather – downtown seattle

From needle+thread

sometimes i lose track of photos that i really like… this was taken around christmas i think, and for some reason never got posted. these people were in a hurry- i took 3 photos, and in each one, one of them is doing something different. they literally ran away from me for a bus…

new addition – jesslyn – downtown seattle

From needle+thread

it’s odd to me to think that i know of 19 people who have had, or will have (in the next few months) a baby. that seems like a bit of a boom to me. i love seeing someone who doesn’t cater to the dressing challenge existing on her front mid-section. i recently attended a baby shower (the mom-to-be had her baby like 2 days later) and she looked more put together than anyone in the room, and quite frankly, adorable (somewhat uncomfortable?). anyway… to cute pregnant ladies! (another cute mom i spotted a while ago)

color + fur – heather – pike place market

From needle+thread

heather works at cicada. i (again) don’t want to mention how long we followed her… but when she stopped for donuts in the market, we stopped to chat. love the over the top hat.

quirky mix – sushi – downtown seattle

classic trench – haylee – downtown seattle

mixed plaids – sakshi – capitol hill

retro inspiration – jun – downtown seattle

favourite kicks – greg – pike place market

From needle+thread

i love that everything looks relatively new, and then you get to the shoes. they look very loved…

doesn’t the market look festive? i’ve been trying to stroll through once a week to soak it in…

denim + dressy – craig – pike place market

From needle+thread

the other night i walked the market at sunset… it was so crisp, and there were so many people who looked on their way to somewhere. i liked his little bit of dressy, but still casual. perfect for december.

we play favourites – local lady bloggers – blogmeetblog – seattle

From needle+thread

i apologize about the flash. these ladies are all lovely, all bloggers, and if i weren’t on pain meds, i’d link to everyone of them. my back went out this morning… i just wanted you to see some of the great bloggers who attended blogmeetblog… one of my ‘excitement’ moments was meeting jamie- of jamie of all trades fame!

we play favourites – emerald dandy – blogmeetblog – seattle

From needle+thread

i’m kidding.  kind of.  i had a room full of favourites… and i was such trash at taking pictures that night.  i think it was the nerves.  but it was nice to see some friendly faces, i might even go so far as laughing faces… mr. e. dandy makes me smile.  he’s such a doll.  i wish i had taken a picture of everyone who made me smile… we’d have posts for the next month…

p.s. i believe emerald dandy’s site is unavailable due to renovations… but check back.  i’ll put the link up as soon as it’s available.

friends – SAM Remix – seattle

From needle+thread

i have some very stylish friends.  gopi, i think, was actually voted most stylish guy in seattle one year, and maria looks good even when she decides at the very last minute that she’s going out with us.  both of them seem to embrace style pretty effortlessly, and i love the easy grace of what they wear and how they wear it.  i think maria’s quote that night was, ‘anything looks good if you’re wearing red lipstick’.  i agree.
